National Training Group (NTG)

ASA's premier level program for high school swimmers ages 14 & over who have made a commitment to swimming as their primary sport. These athletes are expected to train all four strokes and maintain a high-level IMX score.  Athletes are expected to focus on participation in meets, with the goal of leading to meets at the National level.  The program offers in-water, dryland and gym training.  All swimmers invited to this Group will be required to sign a Swimmer / Parent agreement, indicating their understanding of the requirements for this Group.  

Guidelines to be considered for Invitation to this Group:
-Must be in 9th grade or above.

-IMX Score 3000+.
-Recommend at least 1 Sectional Qualifying Time.

Group Standards and Requirements:
-Maintain 6 Swim practices per week throughout the year.

-Maintain 2 Gym practices per week throughout the year.
-Maintain an IMX score of 3000+.
-Maintain a high level of practice performance.
-Follow the ASA Swimmer Code of Conduct -

Swimmers must maintain the requirements and standards in order to be invited back to the team throughout the duration of the season.  Swimmers will be evaluated throughout the year to make sure that they are maintaining the requirements and standards of the group.  Swimmers who are not meeting the standards will be informed by their coach, followed by a coach-swimmer-parent meeting, followed by group re-assignment.

An introductory packet will be sent out prior to the start of the season with information about the group, meet schedule, season run-down and what gear will be needed. 


Advanced Seniors (ASG)

The Advanced Senior Group is for high school swimmers, ages 14 & over, who have made a serious commitment to swimming. Emphasis is on stroke mechanics, conditioning, and goal setting. Athletes are required to participate in meets, with the goal of leading to meets at the National level. All swimmers will be required to sign a Swimmer / Parent agreement indicating their understanding of the requirements for this Group.

Guidelines to be considered for Invitation to this Group:
-Must be in 9th grade or above.

-Must have one of the following: two PV Junior Champ qualifying times OR one PV Senior Champ (or higher equivalent) qualifying time.


Group Requirements:

-Must attend 90% of swim practices throughout the year.
-Must attend 90% of gym practices throughout the year.

-Must maintain two Junior Champ qualifying times.
-Maintain a high level of practice performance.
-Follow the ASA Swimmer Code of Conduct -

National Development Group (NDG)

The NDG Program is for swimmers ages 11-14 who have made swimming their primary sport. This group is for swimmers who have demonstrated exceptional skills in the water. The program has an emphasis on advanced stroke technique, interval training, aerobic conditioning, race strategy and goal setting. The NDG group focuses on each swimmer's best events, while maintaining and improving their IMX score each year.  Swimmers are re-evaluated at various times of the season to ensure they are maintaining the standards of the group. All invited to this group will be required to sign a Swimmer / Parent agreement indicating their understanding of the requirements for this group.

Guidelines to be considered for Invitation to this Group
- 8th grade or below
- Current IMX Score: (11-12) 1800+  and (13-14) 2000+
- At least 3 “A” Qualifying Times
- Practice Attendance & Performance in JRs or AG2

Group Requirements
- Must maintain 5 practices per week throughout the year
- Must maintain 1 gym practice per week throughout the year.

- Must maintain IMX score of 2000+

Junior Training Group (JR-SR)

The Junior Training Group is for swimmers ages 11-14 who plan to compete on a regular basis while maintaining a steady practice schedule. The program has an emphasis on advanced stroke technique, interval training, aerobic conditioning and goal setting. Swimmers are expected to compete in every meet possible.  The JR group is expected to maintain their IMX score for their age group -- 11-12s: 500 FR, 100 BK, 100 BR, 100 FL and 200 IM and 13-14s: 500 FR, 200 BK, 200 BR, 200 FL, 200 IM and 400 IM.  Swimmers are re-evaluated at various times of the season to ensure they are maintaining the standards of the group.  All invited to this group will be required to sign a Swimmer / Parent agreement indicating their understanding of the requirements for this group.

Group Requirements
- Must maintain 4 practices per week throughout the year
- Must complete an IMX score each year (ages 11 through 14)
- Must maintain an IMX score of 800 or above at ages 11-12, and 1200 or above at ages 13-14

Age Group 2 (AG2-SR)

The Age Group 2 Group is designed to take 9-10s to the next level of commitment and competition. The program includes in-water stroke instruction, skill development, race strategy and goal-setting. Swimmers are expected to compete in every meet possible.  The AG2 group will learn how to swim & compete in all five IMX (IM Xtreme) events: 200 IM, 100 BK, 100 BR, 100 FL and 200 IM.  All invited to this group will be required to sign a Swimmer / Parent agreement indicating their understanding of the requirements for this group.

Group Requirements
- Must maintain 3 practices per week throughout the year
- Must complete an IMX score at age 10

Swimmers must maintain the requirements and standards in order to be invited back to the team throughout the duration of the season.  Swimmers will be evaluated throughout the year to make sure that they are maintaining the requirements and standards of the group.  Swimmers who are not meeting the standards will be informed by their coach, followed by a coach-swimmer-parent meeting, followed by group re-assignment.

Age Group 1 (AG1-SR)

The Age Group 1 Group is designed to teach younger swimmers all four strokes, starts, turns, finishes, advanced skills and basic race strategy.  Swimmers are expected to compete in every meet possible. The program includes in-water instruction.  The AG1 group will learn how to swim & compete in all five IMR (IM Ready) events: 100 FR, 50 BK, 50 BR, 50 FL and 100 IM.  The AG1 group practices until the week prior to Memorial Day weekend.  All invited to this group will be required to sign a Swimmer / Parent agreement indicating their understanding of the requirements for this group.

Group Requirements
- Must maintain 2 practices per week throughout the year
- Swimmers 8 turning 9 must complete their IMR events (100 FR, 50 BK, 50 BR, 50 FL, 100 IM)
