Bob Walker became involved in the sport of swimming at an early age. At age four, Bob was enrolled in swim classes. He was well suited to the sport and succeeded quickly, qualifying for YMCA Regionals by the age of nine. By the age of fourteen, Bob had qualified for YMCA Nationals, placing him among the country's elite.
Qualifying for an athletic scholarship, Bob entered Bowling Green State University in September of 1983. During his four years of athletic eligibility, Bob trained up to thirty-three hours a week, while working three jobs and attending classes.
Bob has coached for a number of competitive teams including the Bowling Green Swim Club, the Curl Burke Swim Club, and Sea Devil Swimming. After coaching swimming for more than 15 years Bob started his own swim team, All Star Aquatics. Bob has coached every age group including young swimmers, college level, seniors and summer league.
When asked who has been his best swimmer, Walker replied, "All of my swimmers are my best swimmers."
